Constables called to account for their failure to find enough Centeniers

THE Constables of St Helier and St Mary will both have to explain to the Royal Court why they cannot fill vacancies for Centeniers.
The Constable of St Mary, Ken Le Brun, said he was expecting ‘a slap on the wrist’ in court tomorrow after failing to fill one of the recent vacancies for a Centenier in his parish. Constable’s Officer Robert Dudley has been elected to fill one vacancy, but no one else came forward to fill the other position. Mr Le Brun said that he hoped that the parish would be given extra time to continue to find a suitable candidate. ‘But the problem will not go away, because within a short time the terms of office of two more of our Centeniers will come to an end,’ he said.
