Elliott birdie run continues
Thursday 4th October 2007, 12:00AM BST.
BUCKINGHAMSHIRE’S Crue Elliott has a three-stroke lead going into the final day of the Jersey Players’ Championship at Les Mielles today.
The 23-year-old Burnham Beeches assistant professional followed up Tuesday’s course record score of 60 with a seven-under-par 63 yesterday to retain his three-stroke advantage over Littlestone’s Ant Tarchetti who also returned 63 yesterday.
Elliott said: ‘I played really solidly, probably better than Tuesday – but it was another good day at the office.
I had four eagle chances – three from inside 25 feet – and I missed them all.’ Elliott scored eight birdies and one bogey in his second round.
The Championship leader is currently 17-under-par and with the weather forecast good for today a winning score of -20 seems most likely.
Jersey professionals Adam Jones, who recently left Les Mielles to work with Andy Chamberlain in the new hi-tech golf studio at Les Ormes, and Lynne Cummins also had good rounds yesterday.
Jones returned a four-under-par 66 to beat Tuesday’s 68 while Cummins returned her second level par round of 71.
In the Pro-Am section the team event was won by the team from Chatsworth, represented by Ian and Trish Park and Herbie Jennett who scored an aggregate of -42 over the two rounds.
