HDFerries pull out for winter

HD FERRIES is to pull out of the Jersey to St Malo sea route next month.

However, the troubled car ferry company whose vessel HD1 has been involved in a series of collisions insists it will return next March with all its problems resolved. And HD say the main reason for halting services is difficulties faced trying to comply with ‘issues’ continually raised by various authorities, including Jersey Harbours. HD Ferries chief executive Chris Howe-Davies said: ‘We felt compelled to take the action because of the incessant dripping tap of requests from the various authorities that have made it so difficult to offer the standard of service we would have liked to.’ The company has apologised for the disruption the decision will cause and says that anyone due to travel after the boat comes out of service will get a full refund.
