Four-year terms for Senators too?

ALL Jersey’s States Members may serve terms of four years in future.

The States have already voted for that length of term for Constables and Deputies and are to be asked to follow suit for Senators and cut the number from 12 to eight. Although wholesale changes have been rejected by the States on numerous occasions, Members seem intent on changing the system bit by bit. However, one general election for all Members is not proposed. The Privileges and Procedures Committee want to cut the overall number of States Members from the current 53 to 51 in 2008, and 49 in 2011.
