Children at risk

SOME children living with chronic drug-taking or alcoholic parents are being left in their care when they should be removed for their safety, according to Senator Stuart Syvret.

The former Health Minister told the States this week that a 15-year-old girl became addicted to drugs after being left with a drug-addicted parent. ‘Children like this are the victims of an absolute prevailing orthodoxy and political correctness which rules that every possible avenue should be pursued before removing them from the care of their parents for their safety,’ he told the JEP.
