Island is entering more ‘tax gateways’

IN the next two years Jersey could be signed up to receive and exchange tax information with as many as 13 countries.
KPMG tax manager John Riva emphasised the importance of Tax Information Exchange Agreements (TIEAs) to a group of 240 accountants at the Jersey Society of Chartered and Certified Accountants recently.
By signing a TIEA, a gateway opens up between countries so that information on criminal and civil tax matters can pass from taxman to taxman on a request basis.
