Carpenter guilty in cocaine case
Friday 12th October 2007, 12:00AM BST.
A JURY has decided that a carpenter who claimed he had a bit-part in a £22,000 cocaine smuggling operation was at the heart of the plan.
Richard McCann (39) was found guilty yesterday of conspiring with Leon Gocoul (29) and Bruce Gallichan (54) to import nine and a half ounces of the drug last August. Gocoul and Gallichan had already pleaded guilty. The trio were regulars in the Boot & Ball pub in St Saviour’s Road, which is where McCann asked Gallichan for a loan. Gallichan gave McCann a blank signed cheque, which was later cashed in Gocoul’s name for £4,000 and used to buy cocaine in the UK.
