FIVE-year-old children were left devastated when their ‘prize carrots’ were sabotaged on Wednesday night.
The children, who are in Year 1 at Jersey College For Girls Prep, have been growing the carrots since May for a competition organised by the Jersey Farmers Union. But when they came into school yesterday morning they were horrified to discover that the best of the bunch had been dug up and left on the school doorstep. Head of reception, Susanna Harries, said that the children have been carefully looking after the veg. ‘We were quite distraught this morning actually,’ she said ‘The carrots were sown in May when the children were in reception and they have looked after them all summer.’
