Val Plaisant shut for a year for sewer work

Tuesday 16th October 2007, 12:00AM BST.

ONE of St Helier’s busiest roads will be closed for a year from February for sewerage works.

Val Plaisant will be shut to traffic so that Transport and Technical Services can expand the sewer that runs underneath it. The road will closed between St Thomas’s Church and Clarendon Road for 52 weeks as part of a major project which, in some places, will involve digging more than twelve feet down. The other phases of the £1.5 million scheme include closing Victoria Street and Windsor Road for six weeks from next month, and the busy junction of David Place, Midvale Road and Val Plaisant for up to six weeks from January.
