Eight years for ecstasy importer
Tuesday 23rd October 2007, 12:00AM BST.
A BUTCHER drove across Europe with a plan to flood Jersey’s clubs with 10,000 ecstasy tablets, the Royal Court has heard.
Michal Debiec (34), from Poland, has been jailed for eight years. The court heard that he bought the 10,000 ecstasy tablets in Holland for 3,600 euros and that he stood to make a profit of between £80,000 and £100,000 from selling them in Jersey. Crown Advocate Julian Gollop said that Debiec – motivated by greed – had driven from Barcelona through France, Belgium and Holland on his way to St Malo with a friend. They were stopped by Customs officers at the Elizabeth Terminal on 23 July who found two large bags of yellow and orange tablets under the back seat.
