Flying Brands’ profits warning hits shares

THE share price of Jersey home shopping firm Flying Brands fell by nearly 16% to 194p yesterday after the company sent out a profits warning.

Flying Brands, which has its headquarters in St Lawrence, says that it has been affected by ‘a series of adverse events’ which have had a negative impact on current trading.

Specifically the Royal Mail strike has reduced sales of the company’s mail order products, which include bouquets through Flying Flowers and garden plants and products through the Gardening Direct brand.

‘This has led to cancellation and wastage and has impacted both consumer confidence and order volumes,’ says the trading update.
