Lillies find the going tough on début

LILLIES Ladies had a baptism of fire last night when they lost heavily on their début in the NatWest Six-a-side Indoor Cricket League.
Playing in Division III, Lillies were defeated by 165 runs by Jersey Post, who were also making their first indoor appearance.
Jamie Barra (46 no), Steve Palmer (32 no), Dave Ward (25 no), Sean McDonald (25 no) and Dennis McEnery (25 no) all helped Jersey Post to a score of 181 in 12 overs before bowling Lillies out for just 16 runs in five overs.
Alternative Solutions Springfield were also among the runs, scoring 173 for two in their 100-run win against Centurions in Division II.
For the winners, Paul Robson top-scored with an unbeaten 46 while Michael Woodrow (28 no) and Will Gorman (33) offered good support.
Woodrow took two Centurions wickets for 23 runs in three overs and Mick Johnson one for 11 in two as Centurions were all our for 73, Danny Bertram and Raj top-scoring with 28 and 24 respectively.
Buxton in form Dave Buxton had a good night for Farmers, as he scored 38 runs and then took four wickets for 17 runs in three overs in a 16-run Division I win against Jersey Seniors.
John Perchard also scored 28 for Farmers, with Andy Gibbs hitting 40 for the Seniors.
The previous evening, five-man Jersey Seniors got their Division I season off to a winning start when Mick Higgitt and Peter Glennon led the way with two wickets apiece as the Seniors bowled JJCA I out for 46 runs in 6.2 overs.
Higgitt conceded 11 runs in his two overs while just three runs were scored off Glennon in 1.2 overs.
The Seniors reached their target for the loss of five wickets as Andy Gibbs scored an unbeaten 24 and Higgitt an undefeated 10 as the Seniors scored 50 without loss.
It was a miserable night for the JJCA teams.
JJCA 2 were beaten by Centurions by 31 runs chasing 75 for victory in 12 overs.
Helius Pretorious top-scored with 41 for Centurions, who were all out for 74 in 9.5 overs.
JJCA 2 were dismissed for 43 in 11.5 overs with Pretorious completing the game with three wickets for 11 runs in three overs.
Walkovers A beat Walkovers B by 45 runs in Division III.
The A team batted first, and John Patterson scored 32 and Kevin English 23 not out in a total of 111 for five.
Walkovers B recovered from three wickets down for four runs thanks to 42 runs from young Simon Pugsley and 20 from Dan Cox.
The B were eventually all out for 66 in the 11th over ,with the A’s Andrew Bichard finishing with two wickets for seven runs in three overs.
Joe Mayes and Simeon Entwistle helped Caesareans Juniors, who did not lose a wicket, to victory against Durrell.
For the losers, who were 53 all out, David Wright top-scored with 40.
