St Thomas’s aims to hit a high note

ONE of Britain’s best-loved sopranos could be performing at the newly restored St Thomas’s Church – but only if someone steps forward with sponsorship.

Fresh from playing Mother Abbess in the stage version of The Sound of Music, Lesley Garrett has said that she would love to perform in Jersey’s biggest church. The concert, which is pencilled in for 6 March, will be part of St Thomas’s restoration fund-raising scheme. The cost of the work is more than £1,250,000 and a large amount still needs to be raised.
