Students tackle work in progress

Thursday 25th October 2007, 12:00AM BST.

A TELEVISION show charting the experience of a group of college students as they try to reconstruct a charity or community project is being launched tonight on Channel TV.

Work in Progress will show a group of Highlands College construction students spending up to three months on a work placement mentoring scheme with AC Mauger Construction.

After this experience they will then undertake a renovation, refurbishment or construction project on behalf of a local charity or community group.

Tonight the programme will launch the search for a charity or community project which could benefit from the skills of the Work in Progress team.

Charities and community groups will be asked to complete a short entry form, returning it to Channel TV no later than Wednesday 19 December, for the chance to be selected as the featured project.

The students still need to be picked for the series and on completion of the project a prize will be awarded to the most improved student.

Highlands College tutor Peter Wade said: ‘I am very excited about this project and the opportunity that AC Mauger have provided for students at Highands.

It will be a great learning experience for them while utilising their skills for the benefit of the local community.
