MOTORSPORT – Barca Battle: James Walker finished his World Series by Renault season at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona with a 15th place finish in race one and tenth place in race two.

HOCKEY – Jersey progress: Investec Jersey men’s 1st XI beat Marden Russets in the second round of the Harrod UK England Hockey Association trophy – a knockout competition which also features 1st XI sides in the upper levels of the regional leagues.

NETBALL – Tough weekend away: J United lost both South-West Premier League matches yesterday.

The first was to Plymouth Pilgrims 51-44 and the second to St Austell Marjons 39-37.

GYMNASTICS – Regent honours: Regent Gymnastics Club won the overall team trophy with a score of 216.60 from Jersey Gymnastics Club (186.45).

Individual age group winners were Charlotte Pollard (U10s), Tiana Hampshire (U12) and Elizabeth Appleyard (over-12s), all of Regent.

SWIMMING – Sharks attack: Llantrisant Sharks Swimming Club from Wales took the top club honours at the AIB Tigers annual Open meet at Les Quennevais.

Tigers swimmers J J Gallichan and Emma Glendening both achieved national qualifying times.

VOLLEYBALL – Walkers unbeatable: Insurance Corporation mixed volleyball league team Walkers, who didn’t lose a single set last season, continued their run in their first game of this season.

They beat Peter Green Builders 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-21).

In the same league Usual Suspects beat Usual Suspects Too 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-11).

KARTING – Charity challenge: The Jersey Kart and Motor Club’s charity race meeting in aid of the Robin Ward of the General Hospital was held at Sorel yesterday and Gavin Le Cornu took victory from Kieran Monet and Alex Troy in the Senior 125 Rotax Max class.

GOLF – De Castro fires: Miguel de Castro, off 12 handicap, won the Demi Golf Society Petite Etoile Trophy, played under the Eclectic format at St Clement’s GC on Saturday, with a net 26.

George de Sousa (15 hp) was second and Jorge Moniz (7) third, both with a net 26.

Robert wins: Jody Robert (12 hp) won the Trinity Arms Golf Society October Monthly Medal with a net 71.

Graham Bone (8) was second on 72 and Denzil Boschat (13) third on 74.

La Moye win Falklands: La Moye GC beat Royal Jersey GC seven matches to five to win the Falklands Trophy inter-club match on Saturday at home.

Iron ladies: Mary Le Gresley (15 hp) won the Royal Jersey GC Grans Bourgourd Iron Stableford with 38 points.

Aline Staples (27) was second on 36 points on countback from Di Hill (36), who finished third.

King Memorial: Alan Salsac won the Samarès Golf Society Sylvia King Memorial Cup Stableford (with extra bonus points) yesterday with 47 points.

It was played at Les Mielles and Damon O’Driscoll was second on 46 points and Loftur Loftsson third on 45.

SHOOTING – Le Sech on top: Ashley Le Sech was High Gun and winner of Class AA in Lecq Clay Target Club’s 50 Bird Sporting with 45 ex 50.

Second in the class was Mark Andrews on 39.

SAILING – Autumn series: Rhys Perkins’ Abracadabra took the overall win in Class I of the St Helier Yacht Club Blakes Iron Stores Autumn Series races three and four yesterday.

Shasa (Vince Smith) was the overall winner of Class II and Allen Brown’s The Dogs was the Class zero winner.
