More hedgehogs come in for care at sanctuary
Wednesday 31st October 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
OVER 550 hedgehogs – more than ever before – have been taken to a sanctuary in Waterworks Valley for care and treatment during the past year.
This compares to 399 from October 2005 to September 2006. Jersey Hedgehog Preservation secretary Dru Burden said that September was their busiest month ever with 104 admissions. ‘It’s still busy – we have had over 80 hedgehogs brought in during this month,’ she said. Mrs Burdon said that it was not entirely clear why so many little patients were being brought to the sanctuary by children and adults.
