No prosecution to follow ‘wife beating’ rumours

A 53-YEAR-OLD former States employee arrested in March in connection with the spreading of unfounded ‘wife-beating’ rumours about Chief Minister Frank Walker will not be prosecuted.
The man’s lawyer has received a letter from the Solicitor-General Stéphanie Nicolle to say that he will not be prosecuted in respect of making telephone calls in which false allegations of criminal offences were made against Senator Walker. The man was never charged or named by the States police. However, the police did confirm at the time of his arrest that he had been detained regarding the allegations of malicious phone calls to the media which made false allegations about Senator Walker and his wife Fiona.
