Pony doping accused faces ban from sport

Wednesday 31st October 2007, 12:00AM GMT.

ST OUEN mother Kim Baudains, who was accused of feeding drugged mints to a pony ridden at a junior horse show-jumping competition, could be banned from the sport for four years.

It comes after an independent inquiry found that at least one pony was doped with a sedative at a junior horse-jumping competition in St Lawrence last year. And the inquiry says that it was ‘probably’ Mrs Baudains – whose son was competing in the competition – who did it although she has consistently and strenuously denied the allegations. The findings said: ‘On the balance of probabilities Kim Baudains administered ACP to to at least one pony at BSJA Jersey 2006 Show Jumper of the Year Show.’ Members of the Jersey branch of the British Show Jumping Association (BSJA) are now being asked to vote in a secret ballot at an extraordinary general meeting next month.
