Christmas Appeal lights up the square
Friday 30th November 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
AN early Christmas message was broadcast to 300 men, women and children in the Royal Square yesterday evening.
The Dean of Jersey, the Very Rev Bob Key, blessed the crib as he helped to launch the Jersey Christmas Appeal, which offers help to Islanders who need support over the festive period by providing food hampers, fuel and toy vouchers.
Christmas carols were sung by the Jersey College for Girls Prep choir, led by Sue de Gruchy, for the hundreds who gathered to watch the event, and blue lights twinkled on the Christmas trees, which have been displayed in the Royal Square, as the Dean of Jersey spoke to the crowd.
