Dairy farmers lobby politicians toapprove importation of bull semen into the Island
Saturday 1st March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.
FARMERS tried to convince States Members this week of the benefits of importing bull semen into Jersey.
The Royal Jersey Agricultural & Horticultural Society held a series of presentations by farmers and society members as they attempted to persuade politicians to approve the idea when a draft law is brought before the States.
The Council of Ministers have already backed the scheme.
The importation of bull semen has been a contentious issue for years and changing the law would allow farmers to import semen from other herds of Jerseys for the first time in the Island.
