Two in talks with UK Ministry of Justice
Monday 3rd March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.
STATES chief executive Bill Ogley and Attorney General William Bailhache were in London on Friday for meetings with the UK Ministry of Justice about the Haut de la Garenne investigation.
Although Chief Minister Frank Walker refused to say on Friday whether a meeting was taking place, the UK department has confirmed that it did, and that it had been called at Jersey’s request.
A statement from the Ministry of Justice said: ‘Meetings between senior Jersey and Ministry of Justice officials take place regularly as part of the normal working relationship between the two administrations.
‘Clearly, Jersey officials, who requested the meeting, will update their Ministry of Justice counterparts on the continuing police investigations which are clearly potentially very serious.’
