Syvret asks Straw for UK judges
Tuesday 4th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.
VICTIMS of child abuse will not get justice in Jersey unless independent judges and prosecutors are brought over, according to Senator Stuart Syvret.
The former Health Minister is urging Jack Straw, the UK’s Secretary of State for Justice, to appoint legal representatives to deal with the ‘child protection crisis’.
At the weekend the Senator distributed confidential documents claiming that orphans were abused at a smaller care home in Jersey in the 1980s. The report details ‘gross acts of physical and psychological abuse’ at the home.
