LE ROCQUIER School girls have reached the South-West Region quarter-finals in the English Schools’ Football Association’s Minute Maid Under-13

National Cup competition.

A 5-1 win away to Oxfordshire’s Lord Williams School has netted the Jersey girls a home last-eight tie against Wiltshire’s Dorcan Technology College at Le Rocquier on Tuesday 11 March, kick-off at 1 pm.

Coach Ali Talbot said: ‘It was a good win and we played really well on the day with some good goals. We gelled well and that was pleasing because we had little time to prepare before the game because of a two-hour delay getting to the ground due to a couple of traffic accidents. It was literally arrive at the ground, get changed and start playing!

‘Once we settled down, however, we played well and deserved to win. We have a strong group of girls in this age-group and ten of them attend the Jersey Football Association’s Centre of Excellence regularly.’

Le Rocquier defeated Lord Williams School with two goals from Rasheda Belhomme and singles by Charlotte Turner, Dawn Goggin and Rosie Tonner.

Other squad members were: Laura Norman, Rachel Cesar, Sophie Botterill, Sophie Fernandes, Joanna Szlacketka, Shannon Goggin, Angel Elliott, Kelsey Le Maistre and Charlee Hutcheson.
