Riot police and chaos outside our window

A COUPLE who used to live in Jersey have witnessed violence and chaos from their home in the Armenian capital Yerevan sparked by political unrest over election results.

Frale Oyen now edits the US Embassy’s Yerevan newsletter and her husband Fredrik works for HSBC Bank. The couple lived in Jersey for five years from 2000 to 2005 before moving to Armenia.

In Jersey Mrs Oyen worked as editorial assistant at the Jersey Evening Post’s MSP Publishing division.

Yerevan remains locked down following violent clashes on Saturday between security forces and demonstrators protesting over the results of the country’s presidential election.
