Drinks plan for old courtroom

AN application for a drinks licence could be made for the former Magistrate’s Court in Seale Street owned by the parish of St Helier.

Town Constable Simon Crowcroft said that the court could also play host to weddings in future after parishioners earlier this week backed plans to spend £40,000 to refurbish the former courtroom.

But proposals to turn the old court into a privately run restaurant have had to be scrapped. It would not have been viable without a significant injection of parish funds.
