Severe storm heads our way

Saturday 8th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.

FLOOD warnings are being issued for Monday as a deep and powerful storm looks set to hit Jersey and the rest of the British Isles.

The Island’s south coast is expected to take the brunt of the battering as the most intense storm of the winter heads this way. The Met Office has predicted that gale-force winds and very high tides are very likely to cause flooding along the south coast on Monday.

Duty Forecaster Peter Munns has also issued a tide alert for the weekend.

He said that a combination of strong winds and high tides may also cause some spillage over sea walls and debris on roads along Jersey’s south coast on Saturday and Sunday.
