Old Victorians on course for indoor cricket double

NATWEST Indoor Cricket League champions Rathbones Old Victorians will play JJCA I in the Division I KO Cup final at Fort Regent on Monday 31 March.
OVs won two matches last night to qualify, against JCA Seniors and Pentagon, while JJCA I were victorious in their semi-final against Abbey International with some excellent fielding resulting in five run outs!
Jonny Gough and Jon Giles top-scored for OVs with 33 and 41 respectively in a 14-run win against JCA Seniors in the opening game. Peter Glennon took three wickets as OVs were dismissed for 129 but, despite 36 runs from Dave Gorman and 31 by Andy Gibbs, Seniors were all out for 115.
Abbey International won their opening game by 51 runs against Farmers. Batting first Abbey totalled 136 for 2 from their 12 overs after undefeated scores of 33, 26 and 25 from Ryan Driver, Ian Crocker and Nigel Crocker respectively. Jon Prince also contributed 22.
C Perchard top-scored for Farmers with an unbeaten 27 but they were all out for 85 in 11.1 overs against tidy Abbey bowling; Driver taking two wickets for 11 runs and Nigel Johnson two for 25 both in three-over spells.
JJCA I defeated Abbey by one wicket in the first semi-final. The youngsters excelled in the field with five run outs as Abbey were all out for 85, with Ian and Nigel Crocker scoring 34 and 21 respectively.
JJCA I were guided home by an unbeaten 41 from Matt Hanley, supported by Tom Gibbs and John Borg with 26 and 18 respectively. Ryan Driver and Nigel Crocker both took two wickets, for 27 runs and 31 respectively.
OVs reached the final after beating Pentagon by 26 runs. Tom Minty (28) and Bradley Vowden (26) were undefeated as OVs made 129 for 3.
Karl Le F่vre (32) and Wayne Summers (36) top scored in Pentagon’s reply of 103 with teenager Lee Meloy taking three wickets for the winners.
