Opera House and offices damaged as sea wall defences crumble in the face of crashing waves
Tuesday 11th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.
SEA water ran down Gloucester Street and caused flood damage to a number of buildings last night after the sea wall defences were smashed by incoming waves.
The Jersey Opera House was without electricity this morning after being hit by the floods.
The foyer of the building was covered in up to six inches of water which entered the building from both the front entrance and the side entrance at Seaton Place.
The electricity failure has meant that the the box office computers are currently out of action but are likely to be repaired by tomorrow.
