Flights to London likely to become more expensive

ISLANDERS face paying significantly more to fly to London’s two major airports after a ruling that will increase costs paid by airlines at Gatwick and Heathrow.
A decision that landing charges are to be allowed to rise by well over 20 per cent during the next five years has been roundly condemned by the three airlines which fly the routes from Jersey.
BMI, which flies to Heathrow, and British Airways and Flybe, which connect Jersey with Gatwick, have all reacted angrily to an announcement of an increase in charges at Britain’s two busiest airports.
Assistant Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean, who has responsibility for aviation, said that any increase in unavoidable costs for airlines was a matter of regret.
