POLICE booked a cyclist for riding down an ‘access only’ lane despite standing just a few feet away from a road sign which read ‘Bicycle access’.
Carlton McKain (44) said that he had ridden down Lewis Street on his way to work for seven years without any problems and was ‘gobsmacked’ when he was charged by police.
‘The sign clearly says that there is access to premises and for bicycles,’ he said. ‘I was booked for “failure to conform to a road sign” when it’s more a case of policemen failing to read a road sign.’
