TV role delays Kirsten

Monday 17th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.

THE recently appointed Jersey cricket coach, Peter Kirsten, will be arriving in the Island later than expected after being offered a panelist spot for the upcoming India v South Africa Test Series.

The former South Africa captain has been invited on to the panel for NeoSports TV who are the official broadcasters for the event to be played from 26 March to 15 April. Kirsten will then head to Jersey, arriving on 16 April.

The Jersey Cricket Board agreed for Kirsten to take up this opportunity as they felt that this high profile role could only enhance the Island’s and Jersey Cricket’s reputation. They added that he will be taking every opportunity to mention his coaching role in Jersey.

Kirsten, who was appointed by the JCB to work with the Island side ahead of their World Cricket League Division V debut in May, should be keen to watch the progress of India in the Test Series as his brother, Gary, is the coach. Another brother, Andy, has recently been appointed national coach for Kenya.
