Oxford football Blue for Wherry
Wednesday 19th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.
GROUVILLE Football Club utility player Tom Wherry has been awarded a football Blue by Oxford.
The former Jersey under-18 cap, who skippered Jersey’s under-19s cricketers to victory in the European U23 Division II Championship in Jersey last summer, is to play in the Varsity match against Cambridge on Saturday 29 March. The game, which precedes the Boat Race on the River Thames – which starts at 5.15 pm – is being played at Fulham Football Club’s ground at Craven Cottage.
Wherry (20), a Junior Muratti player while with St Paul’s, is studying at Lady Margaret Hall, a College of Oxford University, where is undertaking experimental psychology.
