Cannabis supplier spared a jail term
Tuesday 25th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.
A MAN accused of dealing cannabis has been spared jail by the Royal Court.
Martyn Yann Roberts (28), of Beach Road, was sentenced to 140 hours of community service, put on probation for one year and ordered to comply with treatment from the Alcohol and Drugs Service.
He admitted supplying, possessing and intending to supply the class B drug.
Police were called out to check on Roberts’s property on 23 November after an alarm had gone off.
Defence Advocate David Hopwood said that the alcohol and drugs report revealed that the amount of cannabis found was in line with Roberts’s personal use.
‘He has a new sense of resolve,’ he said. ‘He has cut down his cannabis use and he has addressed his alcohol abuse.’
