Homes plan for the Eagle Tavern
Wednesday 26th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.
THE Eagle Tavern has been sold and is likely to be replaced with houses.
After two unsuccessful attempts to have the licence there reinstated following complaints by residents of disorderly behaviour in the area, Randalls Vautier have sold it to Regal Developments Ltd, whose managing director, Stephen Regal, said that they were planning to build affordable houses there.
The news was described by Eileen Amy, who lives near the venue, as a sign of what could be achieved when people ‘voted with their feet’ against things they objected to.
The pub in Lempri่re Street had its licence withdrawn by the Licensing Assembly in June last year.
