Scrutiny gets into the schools

Wednesday 26th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.

SCRUTINY panel members and ministers have been visiting secondary schools in Jersey to teach them about the work of the States.

The purpose of the scheme is to involve young people in the work done by Jersey’s government, both on the executive side by contributing to consultation papers and on the role of Scrutiny by experiencing what the panels actually do and how they hold the executive to account.

The scheme follows a pilot last year in which the States worked with a group of Year 10 students at Les Quennevais School as part of the personal and social education citizenship programme.
