Town pub could lose its licence
Wednesday 26th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.
A TOWN pub which has allegedly been serving drunk people after closing time could now lose its licence.
The owners of Bond’s in Bond Street will find out on Friday whether the pub will be closed down.
Yesterday the Licensing Assembly, sitting in the Royal Court, heard about drunkenness, after-hours drinking, noise complaints and confusion over who holds the licence for the premises.
Police visited the pub 21 times in the last 12 months, but the lawyer for Bond Hotel Ltd, Advocate Dionne Gilbert, said that they found nothing wrong on 16 of the visits.
She said that licensee Edward Gibb felt that he was being harassed by the police Licensing Unit.
