U18 Hants honours for Jersey golfers

Wednesday 26th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.

RHODES Island Games golfers Sam Crenan and Chris Young have been selected to play for Hampshire under-18s this weekend.

The duo, who are playing off two and three handicaps respectively, will be playing against Royal Winchester on Sunday.

Crenan (16) and Young (17), who both have two years left in the age group, have been selected following their regular attendance at the Hampshire School of Excellence over the winter.

The De La Salle College students, who are members of the PricewaterhouseCoopers School of Excellence, have started the season well winning their matches against the French Academy side and also in the Hampshire 7-a-side tournament representing their respective clubs’ senior teams.

Royal Jersey’s Crenan and La Moye’s Young, who are being assisted by Flybe, will attend their last Hampshire coaching session of the winter on Saturday before facing Royal Winchester the following day.

The match is morning foursomes followed by afternoon singles.

PWC work over the winters months has also included strength and flexibility sessions with Mandy Barton at Fort Regent.
