Hamons: We’re winding down
Friday 28th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.
ONE of Jersey’s great old institutions, Hamons the drapers in King Street, is starting to wind down the business, the family who run it have confirmed.
However, John Hamon, who is the proprietor with his brother Edward, told the JEP that the shop could still be in business at Christmas and beyond that time.
Even if the shop did eventually close, they might still operate a reduced business from another location.
Mr Hamon said that there were no plans to sell the shop, which is in the building called Victoria House where a drapery shop has served the community since around 1845.
