JT rental charges on land lines up 4.35%
Friday 28th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.
JERSEY Telecom will increase rental charges for land-line services by 4.35 per cent from the end of June.
For most customers that will be a rise of 50p a month, but only 7p a month for pensioners. And the company is to hold the cost of making a local call at 7p for the 14th consecutive year.
The States-owned telecommunication business said that the increase in line rental charges, which is below the current inflation figure of 4.5 per cent, will allow it to continue to invest in the fixed-line network.
Jersey Telecom said that despite the steady increase in the use of mobile phones, land-line services remained popular with both residential and business customers.
