Jersey at international talks on population

JERSEY was represented yesterday at a British-Irish Council meeting on how best to tackle future problems presented by an ageing population.

Economic Development Minister Philip Ozouf was among top politicians from around the British Isles for a meeting in Edinburgh’s Victoria Quay hosted by Scotland’s Deputy First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon. The Scottish government is the lead administration within the council on demography.

Senator Ozouf said talks focused on the challenges presented by an ageing and changing population mix.

This was the first British-Irish Council meeting to consider demography and examine trends in the different jurisdictions.
