St John wages war on fly tippers
Tuesday 1st April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
ROGUE builders have been using Jersey’s picturesque north coast as an illegal dumping ground.
St John Constable Graeme Butcher says that his honorary officers have found tiles, bricks and building waste dumped in car parks and hedgerows on the North Road.
Mr Butcher says that as well as building rubble officers have also found dozens of road signs thrown over the cliffs on the north coast.
He has vowed to do everything in his power to find the culprits and said that a fly tipper was recently fined in the Magistrate’s Court after being tracked down by his officers.
