Terminal problems for Jersey marksmen

Wednesday 2nd April 2008, 12:00AM BST.

LOST luggage has triggered a travel nightmare for a pair of Jersey marksmen this weekend.

After 24 hours of delays at Heathrow’s new Terminal Five, including a night in a nearby hotel, the father and son team finally departed for South Africa on Friday, only to find that British Airways had left their guns behind.

Only three of their eight bags arrived in Johannesburg on Saturday, two days before the pair were due to represent Jersey in the Orange Free State Cup.

And although four of the bags were retrieved and reached the group by 8 pm on Sunday, team member Mike Cotillard has still not received his rifle.

His son Chris told the JEP that Mr Cotillard has had to borrow equipment from UK shooting teams in order to take part.
