Experts still study skull fragment

Thursday 3rd April 2008, 12:00AM BST.

POLICE are still waiting for the results of the examination of the fragment of a child’s skull found at Haut de la Garenne in February.

A spokesman said today that work on the analysis of the fragment in the UK was taking some time because of the condition in which it was found.

Officers leading the case are hoping that the results will give a clear indication of whether the skull fragment is relevant to their major inquiry into historical child abuse or pre-dates it.

It was the finding of this evidence that prompted the national media to rush to the Island in large numbers and take an unprecedented interest in Jersey and this case.
