Black mark for Jersey on US laundry list

The annual International Narcotics Control Strategy Report, which is compiled by the US State Department, lists the Island as a country of ‘primary concern’ — the most serious category.

Jersey appears on a list alongside Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Afghanistan, the Cayman Islands, Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Pakistan, the UK, France and the UAE.

But Colin Powell, the States adviser on international affairs, has rejected outright the accusations levelled against Jersey. He said that the Island would be writing to the US State Department to correct the mistakes in the findings and allegations.
