Connex subsidy was £4m in 2007

TAXPAYERS subsidised bus passengers to the tune of £4m last year.
The total payment to bus company Connex – whose contract expires next year – was just under £7m and they handed back more than ฃ3m in fares.
Under the deal with Connex, who started running the buses in September 2002, the States get all the fares and the company get a payment for the main contract, a separate payment for the school routes, all fuel duty paid back to them and a grant for running Liberation Station.
