U16s intent on retaining SW title
Friday 4th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
JERSEY’S under-16 netballers continue the defence of their South West Regional Netball Championship title this weekend at Bath University.
As winners of the South section of the SW League, the team, from the PricewaterhouseCoopers School of Excellence, qualified for the finals and will be defending the title they won last year.
‘Unfortunately the timing of the event has not been favourable and we have two girls away for Easter and Kirsten McArthur out injured,’ said coach Linda Andrews .
‘Nicole Goddard has come into the squad to strengthen the defensive circle and together the girls are all up for the challenge and there is a good spirit running throughout the squad.
‘Training has gone very well and with the win over Guernsey in the inter-insular under their belts, we are ready with our main game being against Hucclecote, the North section winners – they have nearly the same goals for and against as ourselves.’
The J United under-16 team will also play matches against Exeter and Pinehurst Blues with Debbie Pitman also travelling as coach, Wendy Luce as scorer and Karen Dingle as manager.
Squad: Amy Dingle (captain), Emma Carre, Cordelia Overland, Jenna Murphy, Natalie Hellio, Lisa Luce, Charlotte Trigg, Steph Le Ruez, Nicole Goddard.
