Watch out or you’ll be sued, banks are told

A JERSEY legal specialist is advising senior UK bankers about the threat posed by the US sanction powers.
Stephen Platt, of BakerPlatt, held a workshop in March, organised by the British Bankers Association, to advise its members of the dangers that exist and the practical steps to take.
His next seminar will be presented alongside representatives from HM Treasury and the Financial Services Authority.
The issue that is generating mounting concern in the City is the threat posed from the need to comply with the sanctions regime of the US Office of Foreign Assets Control.
