Avenue resurfacing work is under way
Tuesday 8th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
MAJOR work on Jersey’s busiest road started this morning.
Workmen moved in at Bel Royal and began a ten-week project which will see resurfacing up to Rue de Galet.
The work is phase one of a project to resurface the entire road.
It is the first time in 20 years that the dual carriageway has been resurfaced, but Transport Minister Guy de Faye says that he expects disruptions to be minimal.
This is despite the fact that work by the Jersey Electricity Company on the inner road has over-run, meaning that both sets of road-works will go on at the same time.
