Jersey lagging behind on green building standards

Tuesday 8th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.

JERSEY is lagging behind the UK in energy-efficient building standards and Islanders need better advice on the issue.

That was one of the findings from a recent conference on sustainable building hosted by Viberts law firm and the Jersey Environment Forum.

To address the problem, the organisers have now called for the creation of an organisation to give Islanders free and independent energy-saving advice.

Experts from the UK were invited to speak to over 100 people at the conference at Highlands College which was introduced by Environment Minister Freddie Cohen.
