Poundworld . . . and a few pence more

THE tills at Poundworld will be ringing the changes as GST forces the shop’s prices above £1 for the first time in ten years.

All items at the five shops across Jersey will cost £1.03 from 6 May to include the three per cent tax.

Owner Martin Cottier said that they had initially been prepared to absorb the three per cent tax but a meeting with their accountants last Friday meant that they had no choice but to change their pricing policy. ‘We would have preferred not to do it, but the numbers just didn’t add up,’ he said.
